Cyprus Higher Hotel Institute (AXIK)
The Cyprus Higher Hotel Institute (AXIK) has inextricably linked its history with the development of the Cypriot Hotel Industry. From the first years of the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus, the Institute was committed to serving the needs of the hotel industry with well-trained staff.
AXIK is the continuation of the Central Hotel School of Cyprus founded in 1965 and the Institute of Hotel and Food Art (IXET) that succeeded it, founded in 1969 as a Joint Plan of the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, the United Nations Development Program and the International Labour Office.
Both institutions, Central Hotel School and IXET, operated in parallel until April 1971, when the former merged with the latter.
On completion of the Joint Plan, in July 1974 the Institute operates as a Government Educational Institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance.
In May 1993, the Institute, by Decision of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus, was upgraded to a Tertiary Educational Establishment of Hotel and Food Education and renamed the Higher Hotel Institute of Cyprus (AXIK).
The Institute has been and continues to be the main lifeblood of the hotel and food industry in well-trained staff. In its trail of forty years it has trained thousands of young men and women from Cyprus and other countries.
AXIK currently offers Hotel and Food Education programs at tertiary level. At the same time it offers fast-track training programs for the human resources of the hotel industry…
